Obedience, Agility, Pet Therapy, and Conformation ..... GOLDENS :-)

!! Congratulations !!

Maple Ridge Jazz's Abby, NAP, NJP --"Abby"

Congratulations "Abby" -   Placing 3rd in National Agility at the 2005 Golden Retriever Club National Specialty

**Abby is the dog on the left in the photo above with two Goldens :-)  Byron and wife Melissa have TWO Maple Ridge kids, and Emily is on the right in this photo, shown with Byron.   Emily also has her AKC title - see next photo!  Note:  ** The Official GRCA National Photos of Abby's win aren't here yet, so stay tuned & we will post it as soon as it arrives - but we just couldn't wait to Congratulate them!!   WHooohooo!!!! Nationals is a tough competition, too

With two Agility titles already to her credit, we just fell off our chairs when Byron called to tell us she won 3rd place in the National Agility GRCA event.  Talk about Grandma's buttons popping =8-)   But after she took a 1st place in Jumpers and Weaves in a 2004 show -- we shouldn't be surprised at anything this beautiful Golden Girl does!  Melissa .... Kudo's to you and Abby for the win at National !!!   Byron calls us every now and again just to tell us how the "girls" are doing.  He and Melissa love that they are both such affectionate dogs and love to cuddle on the recliner with Byron.

Abby is a Dusty x Jazz baby, Abby's litter sister "Maggie" (later on this page) who also finished AKC titles.  Talk about winning genes !!!  Beauty, Brains, and wonderful personalities -- Wow!  We couldn't ask for more =8-)  P.S.  "Jazzy"  (Abby's mommie) is well on her way to earning recognition as an Outstanding Dam, a GRCA Award for producing sufficient offspring with qualifying titles to meet OD point requirements .... And Abby & sister Maggie's titles will also count toward Dusty opportunity to achieve Outstanding Sire.  So...  stay tuned to see Jazz and Dusty achieve OD, and OS honors  -- and when they do, we'll post it here on the Brags Page :-)

Byron and "Maple Ridge Emily, NJP, CGC" - "Emily" earned her Novice Agility Jumpers  Preferred (NJP) in November, 2003,  with two First place finishes and a Second place finish - WOW !!! She also received her Canine Good Citizen (CGC) title in 2002.  Way to Go !!  (Emily is a Beamer x Jazz baby - one of several that have earned AKC titles : -)  Looks, Talent, and Brains .. all blended with wonderful Golden Temperament that says, "I  Love You!"  Among Emily's other interests, she loves to go to public elementary school with Byron and Melissa to meet children and let them get to know her.  Emily loves to swim and take walks with her humans.  Emily's enjoyment of Agility equipment allowed her to complete her first show title, and she also enjoys agility practice times for exercise and fun with her humans, Byron and Melissa =8-)  Byron writes us, "Emily loves jumpers and weaves.   You should see her do the weave poles.  All Melissa has to do is point to that direction, and she is in."  Emily's loving personality, and sweet temperament are a very natural part of her charms inherited from Beamer and Jazz right here at Maple Ridge.  We are VERY proud of you at Maple Ridge for being such a wonderful Canine Ambassador to public schools, too   =8-)  Thanks Byron & Melissa for your love, devotion, time, and training with Emily!  Hugs & Kisses from Grandma Kathy :-))  YOU GO GIRL !!!!  Whoohooo !!  We're so proud of you Emily, Byron, and Melissa =8-)

Best wishes in the Ring Everyone =8-)

Maple Ridge Proudly Presents:  "Sarah"

Sarah Duchess of Kenwood Mplrg, CD, CDX, TDI, CGC

Gosh!  And she's starting to enter Rally Obedience, is going to enter the SuperDog Challenge in Louisville KY October 2005.  At the Louisville KY show Sarah will be entered in Open A and Rally Novice, and now training for Sarah's Utility titles next !!  I'm about out of room to list them all <grin> ...ahhhh...not to worry the world wide web's a pretty big place and we'll be sure to have room for more new titles =8-)  Let's see, titles so far are:. CD (Companion Dog - Obedience), CDX (Companion Dog Excellent - Obedience), TDI (Therapy Dog International - Certified Therapy Dog), and CGC (Canine Good Citizen Award).  Whew!!  That's awesome! HUGE CONGRATULATIONS GO OUT TO MOLLY AND "SARAH" ON THE WINS, RIBBONS & TITLES.   WE'RE SO PROUD OF YOU !

Showing her talent and with style, Sarah finished her CD title in just 3 shows !!!  Then, Sarah finished her CDX in style this fall (2005) winning 3 "legs" in a row.  That's not all !!  She won a trophy and finished that CDX with a great score in Indianapolis.  Molly says, "the trophy is here at my office on the desk =8-)"

Molly tells us that Sarah visits the Waldron Nursing Home, and hopes to add visits to the local hospital, libraries, and other facilities.  Also, Sarah has lots of friends at Doggie Day Care, where she goes 1-2 times per week.  She loves to play ball, take walks, eat ice cream, and go "Bye Bye car."  Sounds like a pretty good life outside of the show rings, too =8-)

Sarah's daddy is Dusty, and her mommie is Eve. Whoohoo!!!!  Pretty is as Pretty Does  - when talent meets titles =8-)  Thanks Molly and Don for taking such wonderful care, and all your good training to achieve these titles -- KUDOS !!! and BIG  GOLDEN   HUGS :-)  Thanks also for Sarah's and Your efforts toward Dusty's march toward earning a future  Outstanding Sire award from GRCA.  When Dusty reaches OS status ... you can bet we'll share it here ... on our Brags Page =8-)   We are proud of all our Maple Ridge babies ... there's nothing more important to us than knowing our babies are beloved  "family pets", and those with AKC Titles are the icing on the cake.  All our Maple Ridge babies have a place in our hearts forever ... where ever they are, for as long as we live =8-)  And I'm proud to call myself "Grandma Kathy" to all our Maple Ridge Babies!!

Maple Ridge Tazmanien Twister, CD, CDX, CGC" - "Taz"   WOW !!  And !!! Won 1st Place in "Open A" at the 2004 GRCA Central Regional Specialty. (Photo on right.)  A Regional First Place Finish PLUS! Three years in a row with a new Title each year -  You Go Guy !!   In February 2003, Alinda and Taz finished Taz's CD title in an impressive 3 showings!!  (Note: AKC requires a minimum of 3 qualifying scores to earn the CD (Companion Dog) obedience title. Hehehe ...but most people need a few more tries than that : -)  You see, Taz began his obedience competition with a BANG when he took First Place, at his  first novice competition (see photo on left above)  - and did it all at a  Golden Retriever Club Show =8-)   Now, Taz continued his winning ways at  his second event by placing in the top 5 dogs with a score of 195 out of a possible 200.  All this, while the dog next to him got up and wandered around on both the sit stay and down stay.  Whew!  Well, when we say Alinda has this boy trained, and when we say Taz is knocking our socks off ... wait until you hear what he did at his 3rd showing!  At Taz's 3rd show, the dog on one side during the down stay was the same dog who broke stays in the prior show next to Taz.  Ah ... but the dog on the other side of Taz at the 3rd show was a BIG white German Shepherd -- who thought the down stay was a wonderful time to BARK right in Taz's face.  Of course, not to be out done -- the dog on the other side of Taz decided it was a great chance to "sniff" all over Taz's head and mouth while the Shepherd barked loudly on the other side of Taz's face.  Geez =8-0   Now .. if I were Taz, there's no way I would have, or could have !!  stayed put with all that commotion and intimidation going on ... in my face no less - ha!  But Taz, never broke his down stay ... who could ask for more from a young dog at only his 3rd time to compete!  Taz also celebrated last year by earning his CGC, Canine Good Citizen title.  In 2005 Taz finished his Companion Dog Excellent title (CDX) - WHoohoo!!  This boy's having a ball and racking up titles along the way =8-)  Alinda and Taz are training now for Utility and we wish them all the best.  Taz is also quite the water bug, is showing an interest in tracking, and he enjoys retrieving a life-sized duck decoy as practice for a future try at his WC, Working Certificate.  Whew!  I'm tired just listing all his many interests ... but Taz  has fun where ever he goes, and whatever he does.  Rocky and Alinda have done an excellent job with this boy - my hat's off to YOU !!  And before I leave you, let me share one more story about Taz's show expertise.  I was there at ring side waiting with Taz and Alinda for their turn in the obedience ring at Taz's 2nd show date.  When a nice lady and her 3 small children approached Taz.  Of course, the children wanted to "pet the doggie?"  Their mother asked Alinda's permission (this is always a good idea when you don't own the dog, too).  Alinda said it would be fine and Taz was in heaven ...he sat perfectly still while 3 children under the age of 7 petted, hugged, and generally LOVED UP this 80 lb. Golden Retriever.  What a Sweet Sweet Boy is our Taz man : -)  And now you know the rest of the story, as Paul Harvey would say.  Taz not only has "all purpose Golden" traits in his blood .. he has the most important trait of all ... that of Best Friend to Everyone He Meets =8-)  Proud of Taz?  You Bet!  Taz is a brother to our Elvis.  Our very own Jazz and Beamer are his mommie and daddy.  Thank you Alinda for letting me share Taz's photo and story with others.  I'll say it again, Congratulations on a new and well deserved CDX title =8-)  You're the stuff dreams are made of .. Best Wishes Alinda and Taz !

P.S.  Alinda has a second puppy from Maple Ridge, "Maggie" who is also competing in Obedience.  Her photo and individual update is listed next on the Brags Page, too!   *Maggie is also in the photo below playing in the water with Taz. "Maggie" is the dog on the right side in the water retrieving the bumper toy.  WHoohoo!!!   Best wishes to you Alinda, Taz, and Maggie in the the Ring !!!!

Maple Ridge's Smokey MT  Magic CD, CGC  - " Maggie"

WOW!  Another Jazz kid in the ribbons and winning titles --and it's just the beginning of what this Golden Girlie can do, too!  Maggie and Alinda continue to enjoy showing and hope to finish Maggie's CDX title soon, too :-)   Maggie loves to sit in the chair with Alinda for "cuddle time" at home when they aren't busy practicing, taking classes, or showing, too!  In the photo below, Maggie is snuggling with Mr. Misty - he lives in the house too!  Other photos below are Maggie at the Columbus, IN show, Maggie in the field, of course since they have two Maple Ridge kids -- Maggie and Taz relaxing on the hiking trails last Fall.  Thanks so much for taking wonderful care of Maggie, for us Alinda.  We're so very proud of you both!!  You Go Girls =8-)

Congratulations to Alinda and Rocky for - WRGRC Harry Tripp Award for Service to the Club (awarded Feb 2005).  Alinda received a large traveling plaque & a smaller one to keep :-)
